A Non-Executive Director is an individual or a member of a board appointed or elected to oversee and manage the affairs of a trust, nonprofit organisation, or charity. The role of a Non-Executive Director involves taking responsibility for the organisation’s proper governance, decision-making, and strategic direction. Non-Executive Directors are fiduciaries, meaning they have a legal and ethical obligation to act in the organisation’s and its beneficiaries’ best interests.

Governance Oversight & Committee Participation
- Ensure the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, and other relevant legislation or regulations.
- Safeguard and advance the mission and values of Citizens Advice.
- Non-Executive Directors actively engage in committees, contributing their expertise and insights.

- Focuses on human resources, employee well-being, and diversity and inclusion
- Finance & Risk Committee
- Manages financial matters, assesses risks, and ensures economic sustainability
- Fundraising Committee
- Develops and oversees fundraising strategies to support our mission
