Spooks, Soups & Savings!

Citizens Advice Diss, Thetford & District will host a free Halloween event offering winter money-saving tips, warming food and family fun.

The seasonal event, called Spooks, Soups & Savings!, will take place at our Diss offices in Market Place, on Tuesday 27th October, between 10am and 11.30am, and 12.30pm and 2pm.

Partnering with our community grocery store, The Shelf, and our specialist Energy Advice team, we’ll be helping local people find ways to keep costs down during the colder months, while hosting spooky activities to keep children entertained during the school holidays.

Visitors will be able to see how to make simple, nutritious and energy-efficient meals using slow cookers and ingredients from The Shelf. Soup samples will be available to enjoy with bread, offering a taste of affordable, warming meals that can be made at home.

Our Energy Advice team will also be on hand to share practical tips for managing energy costs and answer questions from anyone concerned about their bills or keeping their home warm this winter.

There will also be plenty of Halloween fun for children, including pumpkin decorating, T-shirt making and spooky colouring.

All activities are free, but donations towards our work will be warmly welcomed.

Izzy Shaw, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Diss, Thetford & District, said: “We know that the colder months can be a worrying time for many families, with household bills rising and budgets feeling stretched. We wanted to create a welcoming event for everyone, where people can come along and have some Halloween fun, while also picking up some simple ideas to help save money, keep warm and eat well this winter.

“Most importantly, we want people to know that if they’re worried about money or their energy bills, they don’t have to struggle on their own. We’re here to listen, offer practical advice and help people find a way forward.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming local families, meeting more people in our community and sharing a little Halloween fun together.”
